Thomas J. Burns was born on January 11, 1877, in Fall River, Massachusetts. His parents, John and Mary Burns, were Irish immigrants. Mr. Burns had two brothers and two sisters. He later moved to Bridgewater, Massachusetts, where he worked as a cotton spinner.
Mr. Burns was incarcerated in the Massachusetts State Prison on June 13, 1901. He died there from influenza and pneumonia on Thursday, October 10, 1918, at 12:45 P.M. He was 41.
